Union Chief Justice U Tha Htay, together with Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, visited the historic Yangon Region High Court building on Pansodan Street to inspect plans for its heritage-preserving renovation.

Originally built between 1905 and 1911, the three-story colonial-era building is recognized as a Yangon City Heritage site. It served as Myanmar’s top court until 2011 and continues to house the Yangon Region High Court. Officials briefed the delegation on the building’s current condition and upcoming restoration work.

The Chief Justice emphasized the importance of preserving its original architectural style and instructed relevant departments to coordinate with the Department of Archaeology and National Museum. The visit follows guidance from the Head of State to restore the building as a national heritage site that can also attract international visitors.
