Torrential rains have hit provinces across China in recent days, causing flooding, waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several cities. In Ji'an City of east China's Jiangxi Province, heavy rainfalls, together with thunder, lightning and strong winds, caused waterlogging on some roads on Wednesday. The city's Xiajiang County upgraded its rainstorm alert as short-term heavy rainfall hit its urban areas.
The average rainfall in the county reached 57 millimeters. Large trucks in the county had to wait in line and move slowly on roads as flooding triggered traffic disruptions and even trapped some vehicles. The local emergency management department dispatched personnel and set up facilities for draining off water in an effort to lower the water level and unblock traffic.
