












On 16th August, Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, accompanied by concerned officials, visited Nursing Training School in Meiktila Township and met with principal, instructors and students. During the meeting, the principal presented reports on teaching and learning condition of the students as well as accommodation and catering matters.
In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted the vital role of nursing in health care sector, urging the instructors and officials to provide systematic theoretical and practical courses as well as nursing ethics and etiquette. As the government is providing necessary assistance to ensure convenient teaching and learning environment and accommodation for the trainees, the Union Minister encouraged the instructors to take a good care of the trainees while nurturing them to become professional nurses.
At present, a total of 182 trainees are attending the courses. Since the establishment of the school in 2004, a total of 872 graduated trainees have been turned out to date. During the visit, cash awards were presented for the trainers and trainees. On arrival at the People’s Hospital, the Union Minister and party made a tour to the wards, comforted the patients and coordinated requirements.
During the meeting with the medical superintendent, specialists and healthcare staff, the Union Minister stressed on treatment cost reduction for the convenience of the patients especially for civil servants, retired personnel, members of the Sangha and nuns.
He also emphasized on continuous medical supply for HIV and Active tuberculosis (TB) patients. Moreover, the Union Minister elaborated on life expectancy extension of the nation, fertility rate reduction, enhancing health care service provision to prevent infectious diseases as well as school health activities and effective dengue preventive measures.
