








Union Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win, visited Yangon Central Women’s Hospital to inspect medical services and patient care on Friday. During the visit, the Union Minister toured departments including emergency, maternity, neonatal care, fertility center, and laboratory, where he comforted patients and provided assistance.
At a meeting with the medical superintendent and hospital staff, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of maternal and child healthcare for national health standards. He noted that while maternal and child mortality rates in Myanmar have declined, more effort is needed to meet regional standards.
He also highlighted government support in providing medicines, medical supplies, and infrastructure, and encouraged the hospital to become a model teaching hospital offering safe childbirth and specialized women’s healthcare. The Union Minister called for strong coordination with township hospitals and rural health centers to ensure high-risk pregnancies are properly referred.
He also stressed the need to improve early cancer detection for women and expand services at the fertility center for couples facing infertility. The Union Minister urged healthcare staff to uphold professional ethics and ensure patients benefit fully from government support.
