Health Care Services at Prisons: Union Minister for Health presides over coordination meeting

A coordination meeting on health care services at prisons was held on Thursday. Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the meeting and gave a speech, saying that the Ministry is promoting the health care services at the prisons in line with the prison health care standards in cooperation with the Prison Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

He added that COVID-19 vaccination process is also carrying out at the prisons, so also arrangements have been made in order not to get shortage of medicines and medical supplies for non-communicable diseases. TB/HIV diagnosis and treatment activities are being carried out.

Hepatitis C test and treatment activities will also be carried out. The Union Minister also stressed the importance of maternal and child health care activities and readiness at hospitals. His ministry will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure that all prisoners have access to better health care services.

And, attendees made discussions on tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment, anti-immune/venereal disease and Hepatitis C infection detection and treatment activities. This meeting concluded with making plans.
