Guterres addresses at Informal Meeting on UN80 initiative

Addressing the General Assembly Informal meeting on the UN80 Initiative on 3 September, Secretary-General António Guterres said, “the world is demanding more from the United Nations as conflict is spreading, humanitarian needs are multiplying, development gains are under pressure, and trust is being tested".

He added that "they are answering that call with real change", while "strengthening mandate delivery, reducing fragmentation, sharpening accountability and ensuring the resources yield the greatest possible impact.” He stressed changes of the United Nations system which is the most ambitious dimension of UN80.
