





Door to door collecting of population data at respective regions and states have completed in order to compile accurate voter list for holding free and fair multi-party democracy general elections. The Central Committee on Supervising Ground Census Enumeration held its coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
Chairman of the Central Committee, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing said the door to door collection for population data has been completed, and at present, the collected data have been documented and made scrutinizing as per the procedures.
There are over 13.5 million population data that have been added to e-ID software. During the door to door collection, over 11.7 million households have been collected as per their present household lists while more than 2.8 million households have collected without the existing household lists. It was 86.7% completion of the whole process, and the data for over 1.7 million households remained to collect.
The Union Minister added that during the door to door data collection activity, 26 unusual incidents, 20 cases of threatening by the terrorist groups, 2 cases of disturbances and 12 cases of arson attack occurred. He stressed the need to make systematic storage of documents in order not to damage, destroy and lose.
Moreover, the list of 5 types of disabilities that has been collected together with the population data will be handed over to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. He continued that based on the collected data and statistics, the number of eligible voters will be sent to the Union Election Commission during March this year.
Plans will be made to issue the relevant identity card to those 16 years and above under the PanKhin project. He urged all the regions/state chief ministers to provide security and administrative matters in order to accomplish the data collection process.
