Great offering ceremony: Over 10000 monks offered offertories in Mandalay

In commemoration of the 2566th anniversary of the Buddha Sasana, the ceremony of offering alms-foods, offertories and cash donation to the 10264 members of Sangha residing in four quarters of Mandalay City was held by the well wishers led by the Mandalay Region Government at 6 a.m. on the Buddha Day which falls on 14th May (the full moon day of Kasone) at platforms of four cardinal moats of the Mandalay Palace. At each platform of four moats, the alms-foods, offertories and cash donation were offered to a total of 2566 members of Sangha.

At the ceremony, first, the congregation led by the Mandalay Region Chief Minister Wunna Kyaw Htin U Maung Ko, region cabinet members, officials and well wishers observed 9 precepts administered by the presiding Sayadaw of Meikhtila monastery in Mahadhammikarama monastic complex, State Ovadacariya, Aggamahapadita Baddanta Sujanapiya. Next, the congregation took the Paritta Suttas recited by the members of Sangha.

Then, the Chief Minister, region cabinet members, officials and well wishers offered the offertories to the Sayadawgyis.

Next, the congregation took the sermon delivered by the Secretary Sayadaw of State Sangha Mahanayaka Committee, presiding Sayadaw of Yadanapon monastery in Mahadhammikarama monastic complex and shared the merits gained.

Afterward, the well wishers offered the alms-foods, offertories and cash donation to the members of Sangha.
