
The delegation led by the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung attended the third edition of Goa Maritime Conclave 2021 (GMC2021) hosted by the Indian Navy in Goa from 7 to 9 November.
The Goa Maritime Conclave is hosted by Indian Navy once two years. This year, the conclave was hosted in Naval War College of Indian Navy. During the event, Indian Defence Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Chief Admiral of the Naval Staff of India respectively made opening speeches.
Then, the Chiefs of Navies discussed regarding Peaceful India Ocean under the theme of Maritime Security and Emerging Non-Traditional Threats: A Case for Proactive Role for IOR Navies. During the discussion, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung also discussed the strategic location of Indian Ocean, opportunities and challenges, active cooperation of Tatmadaw (Navy) in maritime security and non-traditional security threats in Indian Ocean being solved via Navy to Navy Staff Talks, Coordinated Patrol, Bilateral and Multilateral.
Then, the Chiefs of Navies declared the Common Maritime Priorities in IOR. The retired naval chiefs, senior naval officers, ambassadors and experts read the papers in three sections under the topic of Maritime Security and Emerging Non-Traditional Threats.
Then, the Information Fusion Centre—Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR), which is made up of liaison officers from 22 countries including Myanmar, exchanged views on non-traditional threats and maritime security and safety. During the visit, Admiral Moe Aung separately met with Commander of the Navy of the Sri Lankan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, of Western Naval Command, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command, and Chief Hydrographer Vice Admiral and they exchanged views.
Moreover, the delegation also visited the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel-DSRV of Indian Navy at Mormugoa Port Terminal, Kolkata Class missile destroyer INS Kochi (D64), Goa Shipyard Limited, INS Hansa airbase of Indian Navy and the Naval Aviation Museum.
