General Assembly of WFEO: Delegation led by MoI UM attended the event

The General Assembly of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and the Global Engineering Congress in 2025 were held in Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

A Myanmar delegation of 11 members, led by Patron of Myanmar Engineering Council, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, and including Myanmar Engineering Council President Dr. Aung Kyaw Myat, President of the Myanmar Federation of Engineering Societies U Khin Maung Htay, and Chairman of the Engineering Education Accreditation Committee Dr. Zaw Min Aung, attended the events. At the opening ceremony held on October 13 at 09:00 local time, Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than, stated in his address that "amidst climate change, scarcity of natural resources, and environmental degradation worldwide, it is time for engineers to awaken as rebuilders for humanity and guardians of the planet."

He further remarked that "Green Engineering is more than just a specialty; it must be a moral compass for harmonizing humans and nature etc." On October 14 at 09:00 local time, the Union Minister attended and delivered remarks under the theme "The Power of Information and Communication Technology to Advance and Transform the World" at the Information and Communication Technology Forum of the Global Engineering Congress.

The General Assembly of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and the Global Engineering Congress in 2025 are being held in Shanghai, China, from October 12 to October 17, 2025. This major conference is jointly organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Shanghai Municipal Government.
