Gaza apartment block collapse leaves 20 dead, many missing

At least 20 people died and dozens are missing after a damaged six-storey apartment block collapsed in Gaza City on Wednesday. Around 10 displaced families were living inside the building and in nearby tents because safe shelter options were very limited, according to the civil defense agency.

The building had sustained structural damage from multiple strikes in 2024 and March 2025, leading to the devastating collapse, it added. Rescue teams continue searching for survivors with the aids of UN agencies and Egyptian relief workers.
