G7 defence ministers met at a summit in Naples on Saturday, Italy, against the backdrop of multiple ongoing military conflicts, expressing concern over escalation in Lebanon including threats to the security of UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon.

Italy, holding the rotating presidency of the Group of Seven countries, organised the body's first ministerial meeting dedicated to defence, staged in the southern city of Naples that is home to a NATO base. They also called on Iran to stop supporting Hamas and Hezbollah. They have expressed their commitment to coordinating a security and defense presence in the Indo-Pacific region.
