






Myanmar International Television (MITV) under the Ministry of Information was awarded Gold Medal at the Awarding Ceremony for 3rd ASEAN-China Friendship and Cooperation Short Video Contest, held via online on Wednesday.
MITV won the first prize with the 5-minute program titled “Millennia Pauk-Phaw Friendship” which documented about the renovation of Thabyinnyu Pagoda, damaged by the earthquake in 2016 in Bagan, with the assistance of China. The Awarding Ceremony for the contest was held via online in Beijing of China on 16th November.
The Deputy ASEAN Secretary General Ekkahab Phanthavong, Ambassador of China Mission to ASEAN Deng Xijun, Myanmar Permanent Secretary to ASEAN U Aung Myo Myint and officials made speeches during the ceremony, followed by the expression of thanks by the award winning participants.
The 3rd ASEAN-China Friendship and Cooperation Short Video Contest was jointly organized by the China’s Mission to ASEAN, the Permanent Mission of Myanmar to ASEAN, the ASEAN Secretariat, the Wuxi Municipal Government and other government departments and organizations.
10 members of Jurors from the People’s Republic of China and the ASEAN member states evaluated the contest videos and Myanmar has been selected for the gold medal. The two silver medals have gone to the contest videos produced by China and jointly conducted by Laos PDR and China.
The three bronze medals have been selected to the contest videos recorded by Malaysia, jointly produced by Singapore and China as well as Cambodia and China, respectively. MITV also won the excellence award in the 2nd ASEAN-China Friendship and Cooperation Short Video Contest in 2021.
The first contest was held in 2020, aiming to provide a platform for people of both sides, especially young people, to tell the story of China-ASEAN friendship by using digital technology, which could further enhance mutual understanding, promote people-to-people ties and contribute to building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
