Friendly Visit: Russian delegation visits Mandalay and Bagan

A delegation led by Mr. Andrey Travnikov, Governor of Novosibirsk Region, Russian Federation, arrived in Mandalay on Sunday. They were welcomed at Mandalay International Airport by the Mandalay Mayor, students, and officials.

The delegation met with Chief Minister U Myo Aung and discussed cooperation in social, economic, education, health, tourism, and trade sectors. They also talked about plans to establish a sister-city relationship between Mandalay and Novosibirsk, and future collaboration projects from 2026 to 2028.

Later, the Russian delegation visited the Royal Palace, Kuthodaw Pagoda, and Shwenandaw Monastery. The Mandalay Chief Minister and officials hosted a luncheon for the delegation at IBIS Styles Hotel, after which they departed for Bagan.

At Nyaung U Airport, they were welcomed by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan and officials.

The delegation then visited the Bagan Archaeological Museum, where they learned about heritage conservation efforts. They also explored famous temples including Shwezigon Pagoda, Ananda Temple, Myinkaba Gubyaukgyi Temple, and local lacquerware workshops. The visit concluded with sunset viewing at Dhammayangyi Temple.
