



The freshwater stingrays in Magway Region will be named as new species and officials will attempt for this new specie to recognize around the world. Myanmar is rich in aquatic products, fresh water and salt water due to having numerous rivers and lakes.
Myanmar freshwater stingrays are found very often in Magway. Stingrays are purely carnivores. They consume tiny fish, warms and small animals which have shells. They are difficult to catch because of flat and round-shaped bodies and they can attack with their spikes.
There are nearly 200 species from 26 kinds of stingrays among fresh and saltwater fish in the world. In Myanmar, there are 4 species of freshwater stingrays. Stingrays are found annually in Tagu and give birth in Tabaung in Myanmar calendar. They give birth 4 or 5 cubs at a time. The production rate ofvarious species of fish in Magway Region is 17,700 viss and the breeding of fish will be accelerated in the Magway region, it is learnt.
