





The 2025-2026 academic year Fresher Welcoming Ceremony at Yenangyaung University, under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, was held at the Padamya Hall on the university campus at 1 p.m. on 17th December. Magway Region Chief Minister, U Tin Lwin, attended and delivered a speech.
In his address, the Region Chief Minister said that Yenangyaung University is fully disseminating arts and science education, and that the new students attending should deeply and diligently study their specialized subjects with fresh and brilliant ideas. They must also strive to become well-rounded individuals possessing the five essential strengths. He added that the fresher are the youth who will continue to shoulder the future of the region and the country, and extended a warm welcome to them all.
Following this, Rector of Yenangyaung University, Dr. Aye Aye Thant, delivered a welcoming address. Heads of Departments from various disciplines introduced themselves individually. Representing the arts disciplines, Dr. Kyaw Swe Oo, Professor (Head of Department) of the History Department, introduced the arts-related subjects. Representing the science disciplines, Dr. Myat Shwe War, Professor (Head of Department) of the Physics Department, introduced the science-related subjects.
Afterwards, students from the Yenangyaung University Arts Association performed the song "Takathila Yenang Thar, " and Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin presented an honorarium of 500,000 kyats to the Arts Association through the University Rector. The Chief Minister and officials then cordially greeted and offered words of encouragement to the 165 new freshmen. They also toured and viewed the fair stalls set up for sale by various university departments and the Campus Tour programs, offering their support.
