The motion of no confidence tabled by the La France Insoumise party against Prime Minister Francois Bayrou for his use of the French Constitution's Article 49.3 to force through the draft 2025 government budget without a parliamentary vote was rejected by a majority of MPs, and the government budget was adopted by the National Assembly.
With 128 "yes" votes the motion, brought by the far left, fell short by a large margin of the 289 votes needed to topple the government, which still needs approval from the upper-house Senate for the budget to become law.
