Free Healthcare: Treatments To Insured Workers Since 2020

Thu Kha Su San Social Welfare Clinic is providing free medical treatments to the insured workers.

There are 4 clinics under the Thu Kha Su San Co., Ltd., and there are over 31,000 insured workers at the moment. The very first Thu Kha Su San Social Welfare Clinic was opened in Hlaingtharya Township in cooperation with the Ministry of labour in 2020.

Chairman, Thu Kha Su San Co., Ltd., Chan Thar said “Now, we have a total of 4 clinics in Hlaingtharya, Shwe Lin Ban, Bago and Mandalay. There are 31,592 registered workers currently. Each clinic has a mini operation theatre, and we also examine the patients using ECG, X-Ray and Ultrasound machines. In this way, we are providing medical treatments to the workers who have social security cards.”

Chief Medical Officer, Thu Kha Su San Social Welfare Clinic, Dr. Khine Cho Myint said “I had served as the superintendent at the Yangon Workers’ Hospital in the past. The workers have to install a percentage of their salary for insurance to get social security. The Social Security Board provides free medical care to the insured workers.”

Patient said “I came to the Thu Kha Su San clinic because I have arthritis. Here, I don’t have to pay check-up fee or medicines fee. I have to get check-up at the clinic. Since I have the social security, they also help me with the medical leave. It is very convenient for me.”

Nurse, Thu Kha Su San Social Welfare Clinic, Aye Mon said “The people who have social security cards don’t have to pay any. We also treat pregnant women here, and help them connect with an obstetrician-gynecologist (OG). If the patients have to transfer to other hospitals, we calculate the medical bills and provide them. We help the patients to transfer to the workers’ hospitals too. The patients need to have social security cards in order to get a treatment at our clinics. We had also provided the medical care during Covid-19 first wave, second wave and third wave without closing.”

Patient said “The clinic provides me with pregnancy supplements monthly.  They also give me an ultrasound scan. It is very beneficial for us, workers, to get such services.”

It is learnt that the Thu Kha Su San Social Welfare Clinic opens from Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
