Freak weather patterns in Peru's Puno region as temperatures plummet

Temperatures in Peru stayed well below zero on Monday as a cold front exerted its grip over the country.

Below zero temperatures were reported around the River in southeastern Peru. The District Mayor, who visited the area located 4,350 meters above sea level, said temperatures will continue to drop. The government declared 72 districts in the regions in a state of emergency as temperatures reached -12 degrees Celsius.
