






A forum on Myanmar Durian Cultivation, Production, and New Market Development was held at the meeting hall of Office No. 15 in Nay Pyi Taw on June 25. In his opening remarks, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Min Naung, stated that the forum was organized to discuss and identify the needs for entrepreneurs and farmers to expand commercial cultivation of durian, a fruit that thrives in Myanmar's climate and has promising export potential.
He also emphasized the importance of officials from relevant departments and entrepreneurs collaborating to establish robust new export markets for Myanmar durian, which is currently being exported through various channels.
Following this, the Director-General of the Department of Agriculture provided a detailed explanation regarding the forum's objectives. After that, Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut led the discussions at the forum on Myanmar durian cultivation, production, and new market development.
Attendees included officials from various ministries, representatives from crop-related associations, invited durian farmers from different regions, officials from regions and states joining online, and private entrepreneurs. They engaged in sectoral discussions, group discussions, and panel discussions.
Subsequently, forum participants had the opportunity to taste and learn about the quality of locally cultivated durians and durian-based food products, and they asked questions to gain more information. Then, the findings from the group discussions were presented, the Director-General of the Department of Agriculture summarized and analyzed the outcomes, and the Union Minister delivered the closing remarks.
