Flood Assistance: More Than 20,300 People In Kachin State Evacuated

Floods have occurred in some Regions and States of Myanmar starting this month.

According to the reports of 16th July, more than 20,300 people of over 4200 households from Myit Kyina, Sinbo, Waing Maw, Ta Naing, Soat Law, Bhamo, and Shwegu Townships of Kachin State have been evacuated at over 70 temporary rescue camps and their relative houses.

Kachin State Social Affairs Minister together with departmental officials and the Department of Disaster Management visited flood-affected people and provided more than 35 million kyats for the food.

Likewise, over 9400 people of 14,00 households from Mrauk-u, Min Pya, Kyauk Taw in Rakhine State have been accommodated at cyclone shelters, monasteries, community halls, schools and their relative houses and also provided 32 million kyats for their food.

Moreover, over 1,700 people of 340 households of Htigyaing, Katha and Khamti townships of Sagiang Region have been evacuated at 9 temporary relief camps and over 3.5 million kyats.

The Department of Disaster Management of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and the Region and State Government Administrative Offices are providing continue assistance to flood-affected people in cooperation with regional authorizes.
