Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing conducted a review meeting regarding the government's efforts for national development from 2021 to 2025, at the meeting hall of the National Defence and Security Council Office in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon of March 10th.
Attending the ceremony were SSPC Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe, Council Secretary General Ye Win Oo, other Council members, Union level officials, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Directors General from various ministries.
Region and State Chief Ministers along with Region and State government members participated via Video Conferencing. During the meeting, the Acting President SSPC Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered an address.
He stated that this meeting aimed to review the government's five-year tenure in fulfilling national duties and to assess future prospects. He discussed how, in general, previous governments and political parties worked according to the prevailing systems for national political development. In the current era, not only governments and parties but also domestic civil society organizations, NGOs, and INGOs are observed participating in these efforts.
Since gaining independence, Myanmar has experienced various governments and political systems through successive eras, transitioning to a multi-party democracy system starting in 2011, led by governments and parliaments. However, due to the emergence of fraudulent voting results in the 2020 Multi-Party Democracy General Election, and attempts to forcibly seize state power by convening parliament with representatives resulting from these fraudulent results without legal resolution, the Tatmadaw had to assume state responsibilities in accordance with the 2008 Constitution.
Continuing his address, the Acting President SSPC Chairman elaborated extensively on various achievements, including the successful holding of a free and fair multi-party democracy general election, negotiations and efforts for achieving domestic peace, ongoing work towards amending the constitution, economic development through agriculture and livestock-based production industries and enhanced MSMEs, improvements in transportation and communication infrastructure, advancements in the education sector, healthcare sector improvements, and international relations efforts.
Furthermore, the Acting President SSPC Chairman emphasized that throughout the tenure, the government had persevered through numerous difficulties and challenges to work for national development. He expressed profound gratitude to everyone for their loyal collaboration in serving the nation during this period, noting that their contributions would be recorded in the nation's history. He instructed that to prevent future governments from encountering similar difficulties, all challenges and experiences faced during the tenure are comprehensively documented for systematic transfer, passing on successful practices to successive governments, it’s learnt.
