Fisheries Institute: [Twante] Plan to open 3-year diploma course

Plans are underway to open an aquafarming training diploma course at the Fisheries Institute in Twante Township of Yangon Region aiming to nurture the advanced technicians to develop fishery sector of the nation. The young local residents who are interested in aquaculture and meet the set status can attend the course. After completing the three years course, they will receive a diploma in aquafarming.

In 2020-2021 Fiscal Year, the total production of freshwater fish in Yangon Region was over 229 million and Ayeyawaddy Region also produced over 332 million of freshwater fish and 30% of total freshwater fish production are used to feed farm animals, 10% of the production were exported to foreign countries and 60% were used for domestic consumption. The byproducts of fish farming are also used in commercial production of fish amino used widely in agriculture.
