Fish Breeding and Agriculture: Efforts for Development of Fisheries Industry

Bago Region Fisheries Department is implementing the caged fish farming method in WahGaToat Dam near TaungSetInn Village.

On December 24, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi, together with officials, inspected the fish farms and also added fingerlings to the farms. The Deputy Minister also met with fish breeders and called for their cooperation in implementing the caged fish farming method.

On arrival at HlawGar Fish Breeding Camp, the Deputy Minister and party inspected the distribution of fingerlings and the displays of fish fossils, and urged officials to provide fingerlings and breeding methods to the fish breeders.

They later proceeded to Fisheries Training Institute in Twantay and inspected the preparation of classrooms, labs, hostels and mess halls.

Later in the evening, the Deputy Minister met with officials from Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department in Mayangone Township and discussed matters for implementation of the policies laid down for development of agriculture sector.
