The first track has been laid for the Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) in Gebeng, Pahang state, marking the new era in the country's mega-rail project.
The ECRL built with a cost of 50.27 billion ringgit will traverse the east coast states of Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu through to the Klang Valley. The passenger trains can travel at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour while the freight trains travel at 80 kilometers per hour.The project is scheduled to be operational in January 2027.China Communications Construction Company Ltd is the project's engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contractor.
