The prime ministers of Finland and Sweden discussed the possibility of joining NATO following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said her government would likely decide whether to join the NATO military alliance "within weeks".

Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland said “This is very important for Finland when it comes to security and also foreign policies to have as wide a consensus as possible because we do have a right-next-door neighbor, Russia, which acts like this."

The Finnish parliament on Wednesday was set to receive a government-commissioned security report to start a debate on joining NATO. Marin said she thought the decision process would happen "quite fast, within weeks, not within months".
