A Filipino teenager living under lockdown is trying to help medical workers by 3D printing face shields from inside his home. Marcus Chu, aged of 16, has collected dozens of the shields over the past few weeks using a printer that he received last Christmas.

He said he decided to help out after hearing about shortages of personal protective equipment for health workers amid a spike of coronavirus cases in the country. His family has donated the face shields to four hospitals in the capital and plans to print more to help those in needs. As of Wednesday, the country had marked 96 deaths connected to the coronavirus, with 2,311 infections, according to the health ministry.
