The FBI Los Angeles Field Office and its Art Crime Team on Friday repatriated 48 ancient cultural artifacts to Egypt.

Hossam Eldeen Aly, Egyptian Consul General said  "These artifacts are an integral part of our people's identity, of their cultural heritage, their history, and it's truly a great honor to see that our partnership with the US allows us to bring them home and to bring them where they belong."

The 48 artifacts include amulets, carved stone figures, and funerary objects during the eras of Pharaonic, Roman, and Coptic periods. The repatriation operates under a 2016 cultural property agreement between the U.S. and Egypt designed to block illicit trafficking.
