







The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism organized an extempore talk marking the World Tourism Day 2022 through hybrid system at the Ministry on Monday.
The event aimed to raise awareness on the importance of tourism industry that can benefit for the improvement of socio-economic life of the people to tour operators and local organizations and enhance the knowledge of tourism among the youth.
At the event, the Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung said that since 2012, the Ministry has held World Tourism Day celebrations in Myanmar every year on September 27, except for holding the events through video conferencing due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
This year theme is “Rethinking Tourism”calling the whole world to revive the development of tourism. This year's ceremony will be held in Nay Pyi Taw in cooperation with relevant Ministries and Travel Associations with a wide range of activities.
The Ministry is endeavouring for the development of tourism industry and more foreign tourists to Myanmar in cooperation with international and local organizations.
The government is making emphasis on tourism industry and he called on making all-round efforts on the tourism industry for all.
Later, the participating students and staffs competed in the event with 10 topics such as natural environment conservation, cultural heritage preservation, human resource development, digital technology, community based tourism, inclusive tourism, poverty alleviation, tourism based infrastructures development among others.
A total of 10 contestants from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Mandala University and the Yangon National Management Degree College participated in the extempore talk and the winners will be awarded on the World Tourism Day.
