Exportation of Corn: Over 2 million tons exported to foreign market

In 2022, Myanmar exported more than 2 million tons of corn to foreign market and local consumption of corn has increased. Myanmar exports corn mainly to China, Thailand, Vietnam, India and the Philippines - Bangladesh is analyzing the corn market Myanmar to buy.

Min Khaing, Honorary Patron, Myanmar Corn Industrial Association said "In 2022, exportation of corn was the same like that in previous years but local consumption of corn has increased this year. We have officially exported corn to China via border and normal trade since October. The good quality corns are just now in harvest. Normal trade is still in test and more than 50,000 tons of corn were already exported to China via border trade with the approval of the General Administration of Customs of China [GACC]. Since China has reopened border gate, export process has become easier. Regarding export to Bangladesh, we have no G to G agreement yet but traders are analyzing the market."

Myanmar has three corn seasons – winter, summer and monsoon. The country produces around 3 million tons of corn every year.
