Export License Application: Licenses Cab Be Applied Directly To MOC Starting August 29

Myanmar has been exporting pulses, beans and sesame seeds to foreign markets by seaborne trade and border areas.

For applying for export license, now, there is no need to attach a recommendation letter from the Myanmar Pulses, Beans & Sesame Seeds Merchants Association (MPBSMA), and companies can apply for the license directly to the Ministry of Commerce, starting from the 29thof August.

Tun Lwin, Chairman, MPBSMA said “The currency exchange rates are rising, and there occurred a huge different currency exchange rates between the Central Bank and external currencies market. We found that some companies are selling and trading unqualified pluses, beans and sesame seeds without permissions. In order to control this situation, the Ministry of Commerce instructed us to initiate the license process and to distinguish the list of companies that are engaged in trading regularly and newly established. At present, there is no need to attach the recommendation letter from our association to apply license and the process will be faster. We reported the classified companies list to the Ministry and companies can apply trading license to the Ministry directly.”

Previously, for export license, the MPBSMA approved 1,135 letters of recommendation for exporting over 320,000 tons of pulses, beans and sesame seeds worth about 250 million USD for seaborne trade and 59 letters for 25,000 tons worth about 11 million USD for border trade.
