Expenditures on private education in S.Korea hit another record

The expenditures on private education for South Korean students hit another record, amounted to 20.5 billion USD in 2023.

It’s a big financial burden to send a child to private academies. Private education cost per person stood at over 300 dollars per month for an elementary school student, nearly 340 dollars for a middle school student and more than 370 dollars for a high school student.

The Ministry of Education predicted that next year’s private education expenses would decline as more publicly funded after-school programs are instituted in elementary schools in 2024.
