






Myanmar Fighters Monument was unveiled at Patriot Park in Kubinka, Moscow region, on August 14th. The monument, located within the compound of the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces, commemorates Myanmar's participation in World War II.
The ceremony was attended by General of the Russian Army Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu, officials from the Russia Ministry of Defence, and member of the State Administration Council, Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy, Air) Brig-Gen Moe Kyaw.
Local residents also joined the event. The Russian Minister of Defence delivered a speech, emphasizing that the monument serves as a tribute to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Myanmar, symbolizing the strengthened ties in bilateral friendship and cooperation.
He underscored the importance of preserving the historical truth about the joint efforts of Russia and Myanmar in defeating the Fascists during World War II as a crucial political duty. The Union Minister expressed his gratitude during the ceremony.
In a solemn moment, attendees placed flowers in front of the monument to honor the Myanmar soldiers who fought during the Second World War. The idea for erecting the monument originated from the Russian Army General and was presented to the SAC Chairman, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, by military history experts from the Military Museum in Nay Pyi Taw.
The specially selected design was supervised by the Russian Minister of Defence. The monument stands as evidence of the enduring spirit of partnership and brotherly relations between the two countries.
