European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean visited the Polish-Ukrainian border at Korczowa on Saturday with several European transport ministers. She praised the united front shown by the transport community in supporting refugees who had fled from the conflict.

Adina Valean, EU Commissioner for Transport: "I want to thank the transport community who showed a lot of coordination, solidarity and generosity to help the refugees. We have seen state and private citizens, companies coming together and giving from free tickets from aviation, to free tickets on trains, free rides on buses, everyone is trying to help all over in the border states and we have seen that today here."

At least 2.5 million people have fled Ukraine, according to the United Nations refugee agency.
