Energy Sector: Japan and ASEAN Ministers Meet via Videoconferencing

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo joined the Special Meeting of ASEAN Ministers on Energy and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (SPECIAL AMEM-METI) on Monday through videoconferencing.

The meeting focused on policies by ASEAN and Japan for energy sector development, energy extraction and consumption and measures to reduce carbon emission.

This meeting also discussed implementation of ASEAN Plan of Actions for Energy Cooperation-APAEC Phase II, 2021-2025, Japan-ASEAN cooperation on Clean Coal Technology (CCT), technical assistance for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), hydrogen extraction and consumption, energy conservation and effective energy consumption, acceleration of the use of renewable energy, human resources development for green energy sector and plans.
