Electricity and Energy: Myanmar delegation met with Russian Companies

Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han and Union Minister for Energy U Myo Myint Oo who arrived in Moscow to attend the Russian Energy Week Forum, met with the Chairman of the Management Board of Novatek Company on 13th October.

They discussed matters to make investments in oil and natural gas exploration in Myanmar. The delegation later met with the Russian Energy Minister and discussed on implementation of the mattes during the visits of the State Leaders, import of fuel to Myanmar, construction of Oil Refinery and investments in energy sector.

The delegation also met with the Deputy Director General of RusHydro Company, and discussed for electricity generation, engineering works for hydropower and geological works that can be provided by the company as well as technical cooperation for hydropower sector.

Later in the day, Union Minister U Myo Myint Oo met with the Deputy Director General for Foreign Economic Relation of LLC SIGMA Company and discussed for investment in energy sector.

The Union Minister also met with the President of Prometey Company and discussed the investment opportunities in Myanmar. On the 14th, the Union Minister met with the Chief Executive Officer of Joint Stock Company “Foreign Economic Corporation “Prodintorg” under the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and discussed for import of fertilizer.

In the evening, Union Ministers U Thaung Han and U Myo Myint Oo held a meeting with the General Director of Inter RAO – Export and signed a Notice to Proceed (NTP) for commencement of middle PaungLaung Hydropower Project in cooperation with PTG Energy Company.
