Electoral Meeting: Scrutinizing Voter Lists And Alloting Polling Stations

The Union Election Commission (UEC) is making preparations for holding free and fair Multi-party Democracy General Elections.
The UEC held a coordination meeting on work programs of pre-election period such as scrutinizing voter lists, alloting polling stations and fulfilling polling booth materials at its office on Thursday. UEC Chairman U Thein Soe said that the processes to verify the ground population census for the accuracy of voter lists have been carried out since February 2022 and now these procedures have been completed.
In the upcoming election, the proportional representation system (PR) will be applied and the Union Election Commission will conduct extensively awareness campaigns for the voters to be able to cast votes easily. He also explained in detail that it needs to coordinate with relevant administrative bodies for remote areas and areas with difficult travel in setting polling stations.
Later, electoral officials from OttaraThiri District, DekkhinaThiri District and Township Election Sub-Commissions in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area reported verification of voter lists, planning for the numbers of polling stations, and the needs of polling booth materials.
Member of Nay Pyi Taw Council and officials of the General Administration Department and the Immigration and Population Department also gave suggestions. The UEC Chairman then supplemented on the reports and fulfilled the needs.
