Efforts For Peace: NRPC, KIO, MNTJP, PSLF, ULA Meet In Shan State

Representatives of National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) and Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO), Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party (MNTJP), Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF), and United League of Arakan (ULA) met on Saturday in Kengtung of Shan State for stopping the ongoing armed engagements and ceasefire agreement proposal.

Regarding the matters relating to stopping the ongoing armed engagements, the Government side discussed stopping the attempts to block the Union Road, attacking civilian targets and destructing bridges and roads.

Also, the two sides discussed a series of matters including proposals in Bilateral Ceasefire Agreement including deployment of forces, prevention of further armed engagements, internally displaced persons (IDPs), signing of Bilateral Ceasefire Agreement (BCA), steps to be taken after signing the BCA.

This is 3rd meeting between the representatives of National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) and the four groups. Both sides agreed to meet on the 16th and 17th of September for signing of Bilateral Ceasefire Agreement (BCA).
