Efforts for Peace: “Building a Peaceful Future for Myanmar”

The second day of the workshop titled "Building a Peaceful Future for Myanmar," commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), was held on October 16 at the Myanmar International Convention Centre (1) in Nay Pyi Taw.

The workshop was attended by Member of the State Security and Peace Commission, Union Minister for Border Affairs and Ethnic Affairs, and Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, concerned officials and observers. During the discussion session titled "Reviewing the Role of Political Parties in Conflict Mediation and Mobilizing Public Participation in Elections," experts from Thailand, Malaysia, and India discussed "Elections, Local Governance, and Post-Election Processes," "The Role of Civilians, Political Parties, Civil Society Organizations, and Peace Brokers in the Peace Process," and "Humanitarian Aid, Confidence Building, Third-Party Intervention, and Brokerage."

Also, in the Political Sector, discussions covered "Capacity Building for Non-Armed Communities, Civil Ethnic Leaders, Social Organizations, Women, Youth, and Future Generations for Peacebuilding" and "Identifying the Country's Current Reality and Practical Peace Processes to be Implemented Going Forward to Build a Peaceful Future for Myanmar."

In the Economic Sector, discussions covered "Identifying Geoeconomic Opportunities, Promoting the Role of Businesses, and Identifying Methods for Cooperation with Neighboring Countries, Regional Countries, and International Organizations in Peacebuilding and National Reconciliation in Myanmar's Peace Process" and "Identifying the Country's Current Reality and Practical Peace Processes to be Implemented Going Forward to Build a Peaceful Future for Myanmar."

It is learned that the discussion will continue on October 17.
