Efforts made to treat waste in Co To island

As a leading tourist destination, Co To Island in Viet Nam, is facing an increasing amount of waste from the ocean, daily life, and tourism activities.

In order to develop tourism as a key economic sector, the local authorities and citizens are making efforts to treat waste and find solutions to reduce environmental pollution on the island.

According to the Director of Co To Urban Environment, since September 2022, the local authorities have implemented Project “Plastic waste-free Co To Island”. Therefore, the amount of plastic waste in the whole district has decreased by more than 50%.
