Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw inspected the use of groundwater via solar-powered wells in groundwater recharge areas and summer, monsoon and winter crops cultivation on 38,444 acres of farmland along both banks of the Sinthay Creek in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.

The Deputy Minister and party inspected the ongoing drilling of well No.(1) near LeThar Village in Pobbathiri Township. According to reports, 28 wells will irrigate 705 acres of farmland out of 38,444 acres in Pobbathiri, Zeyathiri and Tatkone townships. Fifteen wells have been drilled, four are in progress and two are pending and efforts are also underway to support triple-crop cultivation.

In response to the reports, the Deputy Minister instructed local farmers to systematically drill wells based on groundwater levels and continuously monitor groundwater recharge. He said the government is drilling solar-powered wells using the National Economic Promotion Fund to boost food security and crop production, and urged farmers to adopt triple cropping.

The Deputy Minister and party also inspected well-drilling activities and summer crop cultivation conditions. The Deputy Minister inspected water inflow, storage levels and dam strength at Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township.

During the inspection, he heard reports on rainfall and inflow conditions in 2026, plans for summer paddy and other summer crops and dam safety monitoring. He instructed officials to monitor the dam and related hydropower facilities in line with departmental procedures and safety guidelines.

The Deputy Minister inspected irrigation water supply in Yezin irrigation area and met with local farmers and officials to discuss quality seeds, natural fertilizers, and effective pest and disease control to boost crop production. The Yezin Reservoir is expected to irrigate 6,246 acres of summer paddy and 1,180 acres of other summer crops for 2025–2026 fiscal year.
