Efforts For The Disabled: 5-Year Strategy Introduced For Rights Of The Disabled

Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Thursday introduced the 5-year strategy (2022-2027) for the rights of the disabled.

Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khine and many other concerned officials took part in this strategy introduction event at the Ministry. In her address, the Union Minister highlighted the ministry’s tasks including quick win projects. The 5-year strategy (2022-2027) for the rights of the disabled and action plan must be implemented immediately to ensure that the disabled get health, education, social and economic access along with job opportunity.

The strategy is in line with the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan and the ASEAN Enabling Master plan: 2025. Based on the strategy, more suitable projects for the disabled will emerge.

The Union Minister also urged relevant ministries to implement the strategy and action in short-term and long-term plans. She also stressed the importance of the 5-year disability registration project starting from the 2023-2024 and efficient and proper use of the 3 billion Kyats fund for the benefits of the disabled. Deputy Minister U Aung Tun Khine also gave speech regarding the Ministry’s efforts for the disabled including laws enactment, committees forming and strategy implementation. The event continued with distributing the 5-year strategy (2022-2027) for the rights of the disabled.
