Effort to reduce pollution in the city

Hanoi is implementing an air quality control plan in an effort to reduce pollution in the city. The plan involves creating low-emission zones that aim to control emissions from traffic, relocating heavily polluting establishments out of the inner city area, increasing watering and cleaning of roads, and managing the burning of straw and agricultural by-products.
The city will also develop an air pollution early warning system for the people. Transportation is the largest source of air pollution in Hanoi, accounting for more than 50 – 70%, followed by industrial production, which accounts for 14% – 23%.
