Former Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison on Friday, for accepting $76 million in bribes from the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric dam project. Moreno accepted bribes during his time as vice president in exchange for helping the project secure the contract for Ecuador's largest hydroelectric plant.

His wife and daughter were also convicted as accomplices and given 30-month sentences, alongside convictions for two brothers and a brother-in-law.
