Ecosystem Conservation: Tree-planting and fingerling-adding ceremony

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation held a monsoon tree-planting and fingerling-adding ceremony near the Paunglaung Reservoir in Zeyathiri Township.

Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Maung Maung Naing, Deputy Minister Dr. Aung Gyi and many other officials as well as rectors and students from the Yezin Agricultural University, University of Veterinary Science and State Agricultural Institute (Pyinmana) attended the event.

In this ceremony, Rohu fingerlings, swamp barb fingerlings and pond goldfish fingerlings, totalling 200,000 were added into the Paunglaung River.

The Union minister underscored the need to conserve the degraded ecosystem that occurred out of massive food production for the world population, urban expansion and excessive extraction of natural resources.

The Union minister also urged all to join hands and participate actively in the process of conserving the ecosystem.

Also, teak saplings, Xylia xylocarpa saplings, Mahogany saplings and Gmelina arborea saplings, totalling 1,000 saplings were planted in designated places in the vicinity of the Paunglaung Reservoir.
