Ecosystem Conservation: North Pauk 1 Protected Public Forest In Pauk Township

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation designated the area of 3,817 acres in Pauk Township of Pakokku District in Magway Region as the “North Pauk 1 Protected Public Forest” as of 26 August 2022.

The North Pauk 1 Protected Public Forest is intended to increase the area of forest coverage by carrying out forest conservation activities, for the local people to systematically extract more wood and forest products and this protected forest is intended to be established as a buffer forest area for the climate balance and the forest belts in the west and northwest Pontaung Ponnya Region.

 In the North Pauk 1 protected public forest, valuable trees such as iron tree, sal trees, Shorea oblongifolia, Chukrasia tabularise, palm trees, white plum, and myrobalan are mixed growth. The protected forest is a grazing area of such animals as muntjac, dhole, jungle cat, and deer and birds such as woodpecker, quail, Burmese francolin, and Columbidae.
