e-ID System: Work Committee holds 5th coordination meeting

The e-ID System Work Committee held its 5th coordination meeting at the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw.

Chairman of the Committee Union Minister U Myint Kyaing highlighted the 6 biographic facts and 3 biometric facts collecting process for issuance of 10-digit Unique ID for citizens aged above 10, associate citizens, nationalized citizens, national verification cards holders, foreign registration card holders and permanent residents.

Regarding the system, he also stressed the e-ID Biographic Registration System and the Household Registration Software Program completed. As e-ID system processes are related to national security and national interest, it’s important to have procedural correctness, conduct in accordance with the tender rules and regulations and to strictly comply with the instructions.

During November, biometric data of the government employees in the union territory will be collected through a pilot project, and the process will be followed in regions and states, the Union Minister added. This meeting continued with attendees discussing the ongoing e-ID system implementation, plans and tender process to purchase technological equipment.

The Union Minister called on the attendees to complete the e-ID System work process on time according to the work plan which is the most fundamental part of the Myanmar's e-Government system to provide public services with a modern digital system.
