Drum & bugle corps competition: Organized by Yangon Region Government

Organized by Yangon Region Government, the prize awarding ceremony of Inter-basic education school drum and bugle corps competition for 2022-2023 academic year was held at the Thuwunna National Stadium (1) in Yangon Region in the weekend.

The prizes were scrutinized depending on the scores under 7 topics on dressing style, musical instrument, the skill of group leader, playing songs and musical notes, dancing style and so on.

Khin Than Oo, Director (Education), Yangon Region Education Officer Office said "We present 1.5 million kyats for the 1st prize and 1.2 million kyats for the 2nd prize and 10 million kyats for the third prize. 400,000 kyats of consolation prizes are also presented each to 7 remaining schools. We also provided 1.5 million kyats for each school for participating."

601 students from 10 teams of basic education high schools participated in the competition.

1st winning team, No.2 B.E.H.S, Bahan said "Our No.2 B.E.H.S (Bahan) drum and bugle corps is comprised of 56 students. We are very satisfied to win 1st prize. We’d like to express special thanks to the Yangon Region Chief Minister for organizing this competition."

2nd winning team, No.2 B.E.H.S, Hlaing Thaya said "We got 2nd prize in the Inter-basic education school drum and bugle corps competition of Yangon Region. Our total scores are 4.75. We have no words to express our satisfaction. We entertained a total of 8 songs in the competition."

3rd winning team, No.2 B.E.H.S, Latha said "We entertained with the song, “Myanma Kyaung”. We played well drum pattern in the event. We would like to express thanks to the Yangon Region Government and officials of the Ministry of Education. We’d like to request for holding this kind of event every year."

The competition was aimed to enhance the drum and bugle corps ability of students from the basic education schools, to emerge outstanding new generation drum and bugle corps, to have sport spirit and uplift health and fitness of the students by participating in the health, physical education and school health activities and to have team spirit through cooperation.
