Drugs seized: Over 4 million stimulant tablets arrested in Hmawbi

A massive arrest of stimulant tablets occurred in Hmawbi Township, Yangon Region, according to Myanmar Police Force.

Acting on a tip-off, the combined forces raided a house owned by Aung Min in Ward no (1), Myaungdaga Village, Hmawbi Township, Yangon Region at 10:30 p.m. on June 1st. During the raid, together with two compound guardians Khin Maung Tun and Ko Ko Naing, Over 4.2 millions of stimulant tablets worth over 4.21 billion Kyats hiden in the Thanaka boxes, prune packages and dried coconuts were arrested.

According to the investigation, Aung Min who is an owner of the drugs was a fugitive from a case arrested over 147,000 stimulant tablets in Myoma Kanyintan Village, Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State and he has been captured on May 16, 2022 and now in custody in Maungtaw Myoma Police station.

The suspects have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and investigation is underway to uncover the drug cartel.
