Talks on danger of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were held at Learning Hub of Yangon University of Education on Thursday.
Myanmar Anti-Narcotics Association previously held talks on narcotics mainly targeted to students and youths. This is the first time sharing knowledge and information on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to basic education teachers-to-be so that students can learn a lot from them.
Chairman, Myanmar Anti-Narcotics Association (Central), Police Maj-Gen Soe Win (Retd) said “Today, I’d talk about narcotic drugs, dangers and impacts, history of narcotic drugs in Myanmar, consecutive governments’ efforts for drug elimination and tasks being undertaken by Myanmar Anti-Narcotics Association. Threats from narcotic drugs can not be reduced only by Myanmar Police Force. Better outcome can be achieved with the cooperation among teachers and parents.”
The chairman added that narcotic drugs are noticeably threatening students and youths starting from about 5 years ago. To tackle the narcotics issues, Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control was formed on June 26 this year, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the guidance of President U Win Myint.
